1. When is The Bold Move?
The Bold Move takes place from 1 to 10 June, 2021. You have 10 days to log your kms, reach your goal, and raise more than a sweat for people with a disability. You can fundraise as soon as you register, and your fundraising page will remain live until June 30, 2021.
2. Who is Aruma, and what do they do?
Aruma (that’s us) is one of Australia’s leading disability service providers. Do House with No Steps and The Tipping Foundation ring a bell? Those two great organisations merged in 2018 and in July 2019 we became known as Aruma..
To find out more about what we do, check out the Aruma website.
3. I’ve heard of For Fitness Sake, a similar event by Aruma. What happened to that?
Good memory! For Fitness Sake was a similar event run by House with No Steps. The Bold Move is a newer, fresher, bolder version brought to you by Aruma.
4. I love For Fitness Sake, and took part in it a few times. What’s going to happen to my account?
We’ve got you covered. All For Fitness Sake accounts will automatically move over to The Bold Move on April 28, 2021. So, there’s no need to create a new account.
5. How does the money raised help people with a disability?
At Aruma, we work with each person we support to meet their specific needs. It’s never a ‘one-size-fits-all'. To personalise support takes time, effort… and money. And that’s where your support comes in. You can help people with a disability live a great life! Read about the people you’ll be supporting.
You’ve got two options to log your kms – manually or automatically (via a fitness app). View detailed instructions here.
7. Is there a minimum fundraising target?
Nope. But we’re asking bold movers to raise at least $300 for people with a disability. See how this money will be spent.
8. Can people overseas take part?
Absolutely! The more the merrier, and after all you can log your kms from anywhere in the world.
9. How do I create / join a team?
Working out is way more fun with friends! That’s why The Bold Move can be done solo, or in teams - see all the details.
10. Can organisations participate?
That is a definite yes! Just join up as a team.
11. What activities / exercise count towards my target?
Any and all of them! Swimming, paddling, running or walking around the block or to work, cycling, dancing, rollerblading – it ALL counts.
12. How do I get my official The Bold Move t-shirt?
The first 500 people to raise $200 to support people with a disability will receive an exclusive The Bold Move t-shirt to wear throughout the challenge. Once you reach $200, we’ll get in touch to check your size and arrange to post your t-shirt out to you. Hurry, stocks are limited! And unfortunately, the t-shirt isn’t for sale.
13. Are donations tax deductible?
Yes, absolutely. All donations over $2 are tax deductible for residents of Australia for tax purposes. A receipt is emailed to you immediately after you make the donation.
